In Jaundice I start treatment with Sulphur followed by Chelidonium. Nux Vomica is also a good remedy in many cases. The combination of Biochemic drugs Natrum Phos. and Natrum Sulph. gives miraculous results specially in long term. Among medicinal herbs the use of Bhui-Aonla (Phyllanthus fraternus) in any form gives beneficial effects. I adopt the traditional method of its use as suggested by the traditional healers of Ambikapur region. Whole herb is collected and crushed with the help of stone. Big globule is prepared and given to the patients at morning before sunrise with cow milk. Many times the patients vomit the globule. In such cases it is given again to them. The globules are given up to one week in this way. In most of the cases the patients get rid from Jaundice by this single remedy. P. fraternus is very common plant and available as weed everywhere. In markets many P. fraternus based formulations are available. Most of the Ayurveda liver tonics are considered incomplete without this herb. I have mentioned in previous articles about the traditional uses of herbal cloths in treatment of Jaundice. These cloths can be used as supplement treatment along with main treatment of Jaundice. I have found the cloth dyed with Harshringar (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis) very promising in treatment.
As home remedy the patients are advised to take matured Kela (Banana) with Shahad (Honey) internally. Andi (Ricinus communis) roots can also be used with honey in same way. At advanced stages Neem bark juice can be taken in combination with Shahad. The patients having liver related problems are also advised to take Kaitha (Feronia limonia) leaf juice along with cow milk as promising liver tonic.
