Traditional Use: Used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat Cholera.
Properties: Anti-microbial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, germicide, stimulant, and tonic.
Benefits:
Blends Well With: Thyme, parsley, & sage.
Of Interest: It has been used extensively for the isolation of thymol, but this has largely been replaced by synthetic thymol.
Safety Data: Due to the high levels of thymol it is not recommended to use while pregnant and nursing. Is a dermal and possible mucous membrane irritant.
